While the 2020 AFL season is yet to get underway, the Gold Coast Suns are already kicking goals having launched a new partnership with G:link.
‘Don’t drop the ball – just buy a ticket’ is the tagline for the community awareness campaign aimed at ensuring all passengers travel with a valid ticket – which includes a game ticket when travelling to watch the Suns at Metricon Stadium.
The campaign will see a larger than life David Swallow, Touk Miller and Paige Parker travelling across the Gold Coast emblazoned on a 43-metre long tram wrap.
GoldlinQ CEO Phil Mumford said the campaign followed on from the success of a similar partnership with the Gold Coast Titans in 2019.
“It’s fantastic to be working with the Gold Coast Suns in 2020 with the club launching its inaugural team in the AFLW competition,” he said.
“We are excited to have Paige involved in the campaign alongside David and Touk with both teams preparing for a big season on the field.
“Working with the Suns is a great way to promote the simple message that you must have a valid ticket whenever you travel on any public transport, including G:link.”
In addition to the tram wrap the campaign will also feature across social media, G:link stations and on-board trams.
Gold Coast SUNS Chief Executive Mark Evans said public transport is the most convenient way to get to Metricon Stadium and partnering with G:link was a great opportunity to encourage locals to come and support the Gold Coast’s AFL and AFLW teams.
“We are a community focused club and this partnership provided us with a great opportunity to work closely with G:link to help promote an important community message,” Evans said.
“Our players are working hard ahead of the 2020 season to ensure they ‘Don’t drop the ball’, and we want to ensure commuters prepare the same way before riding the G:Link.
“Each game day there are shuttles running direct to Metricon Stadium from Broadbeach South Station making it easy for Gold Coaster’s to support both the women’s and men’s teams in 2020.”
Free transport to all Suns games is included with a valid event ticket and is available on G:link services and buses for four hours prior to the main event until four hours post the end of the event.
The fine for travelling without a ticket is $266 so the message is simple – don’t drop the ball just buy a ticket.
