Bruce and Denise Morcombe visited Gold Coast light rail workers to personally receive more than $4000 for the Daniel Morcombe Foundation.
GoldLinQ consortium representatives from McConnell Dowell, Bombardier and KDR Gold Coast handed the Morcombes a cheque for $4658 in front of staff who donated generously to the cause.
Bruce and Denise spoke to the workers, thanking them for their donations and support.
Denise said they were very thankful for the support from the project and the money raised was going to a great cause.
She said the foundation had visited more than 300 schools in the past few years and the focus was now getting the Child Safety school curriculum to more children.
The foundation’s focus has been on getting the information into Queensland schools but is now reaching out to other states for a national focus on child safety.
Light rail staff, both blue and white collar, and consortium partners donated to the charity in the lead up to the 2013 Day for Daniel, raising funds for the Daniel Morcombe Foundation, which is committed to teaching personal safety to the young and vulnerable in our community.
Fundraising from the light rail consortium will continue with raffles at the staff Christmas party and ongoing donations.
